- Sand Extraction Sand Pit - to extract sand (loam) from the sand hill. This sand hill is one of our largest and is not productive cropping land due to its steepness and sandy soils which blows during the dry summers. Our stock fences are constantly being buried. We are often having to re-sow the area which then causes further wind errosion issues. Removing/bring down the hill as much as possible will make the land more productive for farming.
