Overview
Suburb Guide ( suburb.guide) publishes Australian suburb profiles from official and open data sources. We do not require accounts, logins, or email addresses to browse the site.
Information we collect
When you visit the site, we may automatically collect:
- Analytics data — via Google Analytics 4 (page views, approximate location, device and browser type, referrer). Google may process IP addresses; see Google's privacy policy.
- Server logs — standard web server records (IP address, request time, URL) retained briefly for security and troubleshooting.
- Local storage — theme preference (light/dark) and cached search data in your browser to improve performance. This stays on your device.
We do not sell personal information. We do not operate mailing lists or collect email addresses through this website.
Cookies
Google Analytics may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure traffic. You can block cookies in your browser settings, use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or browse with analytics disabled if we publish a no-analytics mirror.
Australian privacy
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 where it applies to our operations. If you believe we hold personal information about you and wish to access or correct it, email us at hellosuburb [dot] guide.
Third-party data on profiles
Suburb statistics come from government and open-data publishers (ABS, state agencies, OpenStreetMap, and others). Those organisations have their own privacy and licensing terms. Suburb Guide aggregates and displays their data; we are not responsible for their collection practices.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
