Suburb profile
Well away from Hobart, Strahan is a coastal smaller community built around sand, sea and space. Neighbouring centres cover more of the weekly rhythm than the distant capital does. Residents are mostly families and working professionals, with family life visible on every street.
Everyday basics may be close by, but bigger shopping and services typically require a trip to a nearby centre. Parks and open space are a real strength relative to many coastal suburbs, easy for walks, sport and weekend downtime. A car helps for most daily errands, though buses still link the suburb further afield.
Homes are relatively cheap compared with the wider market, which keeps entry costs lower. Older homes and historic streetscapes give the suburb a character that is hard to manufacture anew.
